When I first came to this country and knew little English, the library is what helped me learn. I was able to learn responsibility of taking out books and paying late fees if I needed to. I learnt to use the computers, learnt to sit, read in silence among fellow like minded readers. The library was a place of comfort, my own after school program where I felt safe. I most of all learned to speak English by taking out any and all materials that were made available to me.
